Lucrative career awaits nurses as Commissioned Officers in Army; apply before Dec 26

A golden opportunity awaits those aspiring young women who wish to join the Indian Armed Forces as Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in the Military Nursing Service (MNS) under the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS).

Interested female candidates can submit applications online till 6 pm on December 26 through the website https://exams.nta.ac.in/SSCMNS. The application fee is Rs 900. Qualification

  • Candidates should have passed MSc (Nursing) /Post Basic BSc (Nursing)/ B Sc (Nursing) from a recognized
  • University and should be registered Nurses and Midwives from a State Nursing Council.
  • Age: 21-35 years (Date of Birth between 02 August 1981 and 03 August 1995 (both days inclusive)
  • The candidates should be medically fit as per the Military standards.

Selection
The NTA will conduct a national-level computer-based test examination from 10 am to 12.30 noon on January 14 at various centres across the country. The test will consist of objective-type questions based on Nursing, English language, and General Intelligence. There is no negative marking. The candidates have to score at least 50% marks. The admit card will be uploaded to the website by the first week of January.

Those who get selected in the primary round will have to attend an interview to be held in New Delhi when they have to produce documents including original certificates. Then a medical examination will follow.

The process may take 3 to 5 days. While the candidates will be provided the train travel charges, accommodation arrangements will be individual responsibility. Pregnant ladies won’t be considered for selection.

Other Conditions
Selected candidates for grant of SSC in the MNS will be liable to serve for five years, extendable to a total tenure of 14 years (5+5+4). On entry, they will be posted in the Lieutenant rank and eligible for promotion to Captain rank after three years of service and Major rank after eight years of reckonable commissioned service. Excellent candidates will be provided the opportunity to join the Permanent Commission and get promoted to the Major rank. They should be willing to service in any centre under the Army/ Navy and Air Force.

Nursing officers with BSc Nursing qualification are eligible for one one-year ante date commission and MSc candidates two-year ante date commission.
