The deadline to register for the counselling conducted as part of the admission process after CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is 10 pm on December 20. The results of CLAT 2024 – the national-level entrance test to select undergraduate and postgraduate students for 24 National Law Universities – were declared on December 10.

CLAT authorities have intimated students who took the exam about this date. Full details are available from the CLAT 2024 link on the website.

Registrations will be also carried out on this website. A registration fee of Rs 30,000 has to be paid online. The fee is Rs 20,000 for students belonging to Scheduled Caste / Tribe, Backward, Economically Weaker Section and Differently-abled categories. The fee paid by these students will be refunded.

Candidates can submit their order of preference for the institutions. Counselling will take place in five rounds. Those who are allotted seats in the first three rounds have to accept one among the three options – Freeze, Float or Exit.

Freeze
Candidates who are satisfied with the institution allotted and do not need a change in the subsequent rounds can choose the ‘Freeze’ option. Such candidates have to pay the confirmation fee.

Float
Those who were not allotted their preferred institution and wish for a better option in the next round can choose ‘Float.’ They too should submit the confirmation fee. However, they will not be allotted the lower options. ‘Float’ facility will end after the fourth round of counselling.

Exit
Those who don’t want to continue in the counselling process at any stage after registration can choose the ‘Exit’ option. However, if they had accepted Freeze or Float in any round and paid a confirmation fee, they would have to forfeit it. The seat allotted to such candidates will be cancelled and given to another applicant. Candidates who exit cannot rejoin the counselling process.

All candidates should pay the confirmation fee before accepting Freeze or Float in the first three rounds.
