Coimbatore's Karunya University forges academic alliance with 18 American Universities

Coimbatore: The Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, played host to a high-profile delegation comprising 28 experts from 18 esteemed American Universities on February 18. The visit, orchestrated by the US Commercial Services in India and the US Consulate General, Chennai, aimed at establishing academic and research collaborations, fostering initiatives in faculty and student exchange, joint academic and research programs, and the transfer of cutting-edge technology.

Karunya University will be entering into Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with these universities to further the US collaborations. Notably, Karunya University is poised to create an Indo-American Forum dedicated to joint academic and research programs focused on Industry 5.0. The institution has already set a precedent with its AERONET facility, a collaboration with NASA, USA, designed to monitor air quality and aerosols.

The ongoing visit is expected to catalyse research activities within the Industry 5.0 ecosystem, encompassing transformative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Science (DS), Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Quantum Computing, 3D Printing, and Hydrogen Fuel Cells.

The distinguished Education Trade Mission comprised senior officials from renowned American institutions, including SUNY Buffalo, University of Texas San Antonio, St. Mary's University Texas, City University of Seattle, Clarkson University, Park University, Bryant University, Arizona State University, University of Wisconsin Stout, Penn College of Technology, University of Arkansas, Catholic University of America, Kennesaw State University, George Washington University, Marymount University, University of Utah, University of San Diego, and Saint Louis University.

Upon their arrival, the delegates were received by Dr G Prince Arulraj, the Vice Chancellor of Karunya University. Engaging in discussions with senior-level officials and academicians, the delegation explored potential areas of collaboration.
