Actor-legislator Mukesh inaugurates MGU arts festival

Kottayam: The Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) arts festival called 'We, the people of India' was inaugurated by actor M Mukesh, MLA, at the Thirunakkara Ground in the heart of Kottayam Town on Monday.

Prior to the inaugural ceremony, a procession announcing the beginning of the festival was held from the Police Parade Ground leading toward the inaugural venue.  

Around 7,000 students from 215 colleges will compete in 74 events at 9 venues during the festival. Minister for Higher Education R Bindu will inaugurate the valedictory function at 5 pm on March 3.

Monday’s (Feb 26) programmes:

Thirunakkara ground: Inaugural ceremony, 4 pm; Thiruvathira, 7 pm.

CMS College: Kerala Nadanam, 7 pm.

Baselius College: Kathakali, 7 pm.

BCM College: Bharatanatyam, 7 pm.
