10 major concessions for students in Dubai: From discounts to extra baggage

Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), offers several special facilities for students enrolled in institutions in the region. By providing these benefits, the administration and businesses aim to reduce the expenses incurred by students while pursuing a course in the emirate. Here is a list of 10 major concessions available for students in Dubai:

Flight fares

Emirates airline offers a 10% discount on flight tickets for students, both in economy and business class. They are also eligible for an additional baggage allowance of 10 kg. These concessions are available for tickets booked until March 31, 2025. Students aged between 16 and 31 years can avail the reduced fares. The rule applies to foreign students residing in the UAE as well. They should use the promo code ‘STUDENT’ while booking tickets and produce documents to prove that they are students during check-in.

Similarly, Etihad Airways provides a 10% concession on ticket fares in economy class and 5% in business class for foreign students arriving in Dubai for education. The facility is available for students aged 18 to 32 years. Students from countries such as India, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, and Ireland can utilize this facility. The offer applies to tickets booked before June 2024. Tickets have to be booked on the Etihad guest portal and proof of student status must be provided.

Fazaa Loyalty Card
The Fazaa Student Card provides an array of exclusive offers and discounts, including savings on restaurants, travel, shopping, cinema, entertainment, universities, libraries, and more. With coverage spanning over 1,600 brands across 3,900 locations in the UAE, simply present your Fazaa student discount card to unlock these benefits. Additionally, explore the option to upgrade to Silver membership for enhanced privileges.

Bank account
Many students pursuing higher education engage in internships to earn an income. Several banks offer student packages that are beneficial for such youngsters who want to have an account to handle such payments and transactions. These accounts can be opened without any fees and maintained without a minimum balance. Banks offering student packages include ADCB, Liv, ADIB, Emirates Islamic Bank, and Emirates NBD.

Nol Card
Students are eligible for individual blue ‘Nol’ cards, which allow them to travel on public transport at half fares. Students aged 5 to 23 can receive these cards.

Learn driving
Various driving institutes offer training for students outside class hours. Youngsters aged 17 years and 6 months can join driving courses in the UAE, although licenses are issued only at 18.

Under the package offered by Emirates Driving Institute, students can pay fees in instalments at zero interest. Students receive unlimited training, e-lectures, and tests until they obtain their license.

A fast-track training option is also available, allowing students to train for four hours a day or eight hours a week. This facility is available every day except Saturdays and days with regular training.

Watching movies
Students can watch movies at Roxy Cinemas for AED 59, which includes perks like popcorn and soft drinks. This offer is available at Roxy Cinemas in Dubai Hills Mall, City Walk, and the Beach JBR from Monday to Friday until 6 pm. Students must present their educational institution ID to avail of this offer.

Offers from Apple and Samsung
A 30% discount is available for full-time and part-time students in recognized universities in the UAE when purchasing Samsung products. Free delivery and a 14-day free return facility are also offered. Students can buy products in instalments, with the offer applying to products worth AED 110,190 over two years. Each year, students can buy only five products in specific categories. Orders can be placed on the Samsung Education Store.

Apple also offers discounts for students on products such as Apple Macs, iPads, selected accessories, displays, AppleCare Plus, iPad AppleCare Plus, and Mac AppleCare Plus on the Apple Education Store.

Enjoy music
Spotify offers a plan for students, providing free services for a month. After one month, students can download songs for AED 11.99. Students aged 18 and above enrolled in UAE universities can utilize this offer, valid for up to four years.

Similarly, students can enjoy songs on Anghami at a 50% discount.

Buy clothes
A 10% discount is available for students purchasing clothes from H&M. Meanwhile, the discount is 20% at Bossini’s Dubai Mall branch.

Golf and Ski Dubai
Students can take advantage of the ‘Sundays Sling’ at Top Golf during weekends, with concessions up to AED 40 available from 9 pm.

Ski Dubai hosts ‘students’ nights’ on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On these days, students are allowed entry for three hours from 4 pm, with access to the chairlift and drag lift for three hours. Free locker facilities are also available.
