Thiruvananthapuram; To elevate the spirit of the inaugural function of the upcoming Kerala School Kalolsavam in Thiruvananthapuram, students from the Vellarmala Government Vocational Higher Secondary School (GVHSS) at Chooralmala in Wayanad will present a dance performance. Hailing from a region devastated by landslides in July this year, these children will seek to inspire the audience with a message of resilience and survival through their performance.

Over 200 people lost their lives, and many were injured after a series of massive landslides hit the hilly district on July 30. Vellarmala school was was the worst hit among the six schools in the region affected by the landslide.

First day of Kalolsavam
The State School Arts Festival, set to begin on January 4, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at 10 am at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium, which is the main venue. The opening ceremony will feature a nine-and-a-half-minute welcome song and a specially choreographed dance performance by Kalamandalam artists.

For the convenience of the participants, accommodations have been arranged in 25 schools across the city, with an additional 10 reserve centres. Students can access details of their accommodations, including locations and contact numbers, by scanning a designated barcode.

A meeting of organising committee convenors and officials was held to review the arrangements in place. Addressing the meeting, Education Minister V Sivankutty emphasised the importance of maintaining discipline and adhering to programme schedules. Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil, along with legislators and government officials, also attended the meeting to oversee the arrangements.
