Admissions are open for children of workers registered under the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) scheme under the Insured Person (IP) Quota for MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing programmes at various ESIC Medical, Dental, and Nursing Colleges across India, as well as select government institutions.

This includes the seats allotted under the ESIC quota as well.

MBBS seats: 466 nationwide, 38 in Kollam
A total of 466 MBBS seats are available across the country under the ESIC quota, including 38 seats at ESIC Medical College, Parippally, Kollam. This number may increase to 39. The seat distribution at other locations is as follows: Faridabad – 43, Kolkata – 65, Chennai – 30, Bengaluru – 68, Gulbarga – 68, Hyderabad – 43, Alwar – 20, Patna – 35, Coimbatore – 20, and Himachal Pradesh – 36.

For BDS, 28 seats are available at ESIC Dental College, Gulbarga. For BSc Nursing, a total of 60 seats are offered with 30 each at the ESIC Nursing Colleges in Bengaluru and Gulbarga.

Eligibility criteria
Candidates must have qualified NEET-UG 2025. Admissions under the ESIC quota are outside the 15% All India Quota and state quotas and fall under a common national pool. The candidates must have met the eligibility criteria as prescribed by MCC/ NTA/ NEET/ NMC/ DCI/INC. University-specific conditions also apply, and affiliated universities will be listed in the official notification.

Age limit
The insured person (parent) must be eligible as of September 30, 2024. Candidates should not be older than 21 years as of March 7, 2025. This age restriction, however, does not apply to unmarried female candidates. Seat allocation will follow the reservation norms prescribed by the Central Government.

IP certificate
Applications for obtaining the ‘Ward of Insured Person Certificate’ required for admission under the ESIC quota must be submitted by 11.59 pm on May 18. The detailed application procedure is outlined in the official ESIC notification. The IP certificates, once approved by the designated authority, will be published on the ESIC website (www.esic.gov.in) by May 21.

Seat allotment will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) based on the merit and preference of eligible candidates. A mop-up counselling round will also be held to fill any remaining vacant seats. For the latest updates and notifications, candidates are advised to check ESIC and MCC websites regularly.

Other details
At admission, students must submit the annual tuition fee as a demand draft –₹24,000 for MBBS and BDS courses, and ₹10,000 for BSc Nursing. The fee structure for ESIC Medical Colleges at Kollam and Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) will follow the specific guidelines issued by the respective institutions. No capitation fee is applicable.

Since the MBBS programme spans four and a half years, the tuition fee of ₹12,000 is payable only for the final half-year (fifth year). Additional fees, such as miscellaneous charges and hostel fees, will be extra.

Students admitted to MBBS and BDS programmes are required to execute a service bond of ₹5 lakh. Female applicants must be unmarried and financially dependent on their parents. Separate affidavits affirming these conditions (as specified in Attachments 4 & 5) must be submitted by the student and her guardian.

It is also mandatory to register under the ESIC quota on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in) to be considered for seat allotment.
