Dominic Arun’s ‘Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra’ has made an impressive start at the box office. On its opening day, theatres across Kerala scheduled over 130 additional late-night shows after steady demand from audiences. The film played more than a thousand shows across 250 screens in the state.
The first chapter of the planned ‘Lokah’ universe, the film introduces a superhero narrative rooted in Kerala’s own cultural lore. Drawing from the legend of Kalliyankattu Neeli, it combines myth and fantasy with mainstream spectacle, offering something new for Malayalam cinema audiences.

Kalyani Priyadarshan takes the lead as Chandra, with many calling it one of her most striking performances yet. Naslen plays Sunny, while Sandy appears as Inspector Nachiyappa Gowda. The supporting cast includes Chandu, Arun Kurian, Shanti Balachandran, Sharafudheen, Nishanth Sagar, and Vijayaraghavan, along with several guest cameos that drew a warm response in theatres.

The action sequences choreographed by Yannick Ben have been singled out as one of the highlights. At the same time, the film maintains a balance of humour, suspense, and emotional moments, keeping audiences engaged beyond its superhero set-pieces.

‘Chandra’ was released in Kerala by Wayfarer Films, with wider distribution across India. AGS Cinemas released it in Tamil Nadu, Lighter Buddha Films in Karnataka, Sithara Entertainments in Telugu markets, and Pen Marudhar in North India.
