If you ever wonder whether the way of drinking tea is an art or science, ask the voters in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency. While one group swears that it is true art, that too the amazing art of acting, the other claims it to be science. However, after the famed ‘Chai pe charcha’ initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the credit for bringing tea into the poll fray goes to none other than Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor.

It is Tharoor himself who posts pictures of him having tea from the wayside tea stalls, on his social media pages. The politician vouches that there is ‘nothing quite like the taste of a freshly brewed naadan chaaya (local tea)’. Posting the pictures of him enjoying a refreshing glass of tea from the famed Swamy’s tea stall in Kazhakootam, Tharoor tweeted, “A tea break at Swamy’s tea stall in Kazhakoottam – venerated Thiruvananthapuram institution and favourite haunt of the Technopark crowd and highway travellers.”

The Member of Parliament even ‘scientifically’ explained how to make the perfect cup of tea by mixing, “3 ounces of cow’s milk, 1 ounce kattan chaaya concentrate, ½ an ounce of water: garnish with green elaichi. Shaken, not stirred”. However, not everyone is happy with his ‘politics’ of tea and criticize that it is only during the elections that the politicians do such things.
