Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a rousing welcome by the Indian Diaspora in Houston, United States of America. Meanwhile, a restaurant has been in the news for its special menu created in honour of Prime Minister Modi.
The NaMo thali meals and the NaMo mithayi (desserts) cooked by Chef Kiran Verma of the famous Kiran's restaurant in Houston was served to the Prime Minister at the hotel where he stayed before flying to attend the General Assembly meeting of the United Nations. Kiran Verma, who is a well known chef and culinary enthusiast in Houston, hails from Odisha.
The elaborate thali meals included some of the popular Indian delicacies like the methi thepla, kachori and samosa. Sweet treats like gulab jamun, rasmalai and gajar halwa are the stars of the dessert platter. All the dishes have been prepared in fresh and fragrant ghee.
