Head to Kochi's 'Kalppathy' to grab a bite of this special 'Unni madhuram'

Revathy, owner of Kalppathy snacks bar, serves unique desserts such as 'unni madhuram' and 'aval isthiri'.

Kalppathy snack bar at St Rita’s road in Ponnurunni, Vyttila has become a favourite joint for foodies to enjoy some delicious snacks, sweet meats and special drinks. Owner Revathy has decorated the interiors of the eatery with lots of indoor plants to add positive vibes. Revathy says that the specialty here is a unique dessert called 'unni madhuram'. Soft unniyappam fried in fresh coconut oil is chopped into small pieces after they have cooled down. These unniyappam pieces are then mixed in sweet palada payasam.

Aval isthiri
Aval isthiri made with flattened rice is a specialty of Kannur. Take flattened rice into a bowl. Add some oma podi which is fried dough without any flavour. You can add sugar and banana slices too. Finally, pour boiled and cooled milk to make everything soft.

Wheat halwa with vanilla ice cream is another specialty. The halwa is prepared in – house using high quality ingredients. Revathy says that there are lots of takers for this item too. Besides, you could enjoy the authentic snacks of Kalpathy with spicy chutney here.

The special nannari sherbet loaded with ice cubes, khus khus and milk is a refreshing drink to enjoy on a hot day. Besides, there are fresh fruit juices, aval milk, cold coffee, falooda, tea and regular snacks. The Kalppathy snack bar is open from 8 am to 9 pm.
