Chilli chutney is a popular dish which is easy to prepare. However, this special chilli chutney, which has Malabar tamarind in it, is said to have medicinal properties. In the olden days, this chutney was specially prepared by the midwives for the new mothers. This dish is excellent to reduce the belly fat and helps heal the wound as well.

Ingredients
2 Malabar tamarind (washed and torn in half)
10 dried chillies
15 shallots
¼ tsp ajwain
1 tsp black pepper corns
3 - 4 garlic cloves
Small piece of ginger
Bunch of curry leaves
Rock salt as required
Coconut oil as required

Preparation
According to the olden way, dried chillies and shallots are roasted over hot coals and crushed using a stone grinder with rest of the ingredients, before roasting it in fresh coconut oil
You can also lightly roast the chillies, shallots and other ingredients in a bit of coconut oil and crush it in a mixer
Roast this mixture again in some hot coconut oil
This delicious chutney is an amazing dish to consume after delivery. It can also be prepared using less spicy chillies and more pepper corns.
