Sweet and sour rambuttan pickle

Rambuttan is an exotic Asian fruit that is abundantly grown in Kerala as well. Here is an interesting recipe of sweet and sour rambuttan pickle that is sure to excite your taste buds.

Ingredients
20 rambuttan
3 tbsp oil
3 green chillies
1 tsp mustard seeds
¾ tbsp chilli powder
2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp vinegar
¼ tsp asafoetida
1 cup water
¼ tsp fenugreek
¼ cup garlic cloves
Salt as required
¼ tsp turmeric powder

Preparation
Heat oil and splutter the mustard seeds
Add the fenugreek seeds and allow it to pop
Now sauté the green chillies and garlic
Add chilli powder and turmeric powder
Sauté for some time
Pour in the water and allow it to boil
Add the rambuttan when the gravy begins to thicken up
Finally add asafoetida and salt as well
Cook for some more time until the pickle is thick and gooey.
