Fluffy Kinnathappam made with gram flour

Kinnathappam is a delicious steamed snack popular in northern Kerala. The spongy and fluffy sweet treat is usually made using rice flour and coconut milk. Here we give a twist to the traditional recipe and substitute rice with gram flour to make it even yummier.

Ingredients
2 cups gram flour
300 gms jaggery melted in 1 cup water
1 cup milk
1 tsp cardamom powder
½ tsp dried ginger
¼ tsp salt

Preparation
Dry roast the gram flour
Let it cool down
Meanwhile, prepare the jaggery syrup
Pour the jaggery syrup into the mixer jar
Now add the dry roasted gram flour, cardamom powder, dried ginger powder and salt
Pour in the milk too
Blend well
Strain this mix into a bowl
Grease a vessel with coconut oil
Pour the batter into it
Make sure to stir the batter before pouring into the vessel
The kinnathappam should be thin
Cook in steam for 10 minutes
Enjoy the gram flour kinnathappam with hot tea.
