Sabudana kichdi: A Navaratri special that can impress you whether you are fasting or feasting

The Navaratri fest begins on Sunday and it's celebrated in myriad ways across the country. As in the case of most festivals, it also arrives spreading the aroma of signature dishes and one of them is Sabudana kichdi, made with soft globules of sago, potato chunks and peanuts. Whether you are fasting or feasting, this is a simple, yummy dish that can make your day. Here's the recipe:

Ingredients
1 cup of sabudana
2 potatoes, peeled and diced
1/4 cup roasted and crushed peanuts
1 finely chopped green chilly
1 tsp cumin
1 tbsp ghee
Salt
Coriander leaves

Preparation
Soak thoroughly washed sabudana in water for 5 hours
Splutter cumin seeds in a pan, adding ghee
To this, add diced potatoes
Once they turn golden brown, add the green chilly, salt and crushed peanuts and saute them
Drain sabudana and add it to the pan, mix with the rest
Cook for 5 - 10 minutes, till the sabudana is translucent
Sprinkle coriander leaves and serve hot
