When Sreenivasan mentioned fish avial in an iconic comedy scene in the blockbuster movie Akkare Akkare Akkare, audience couldn’t help but laugh their hearts out. However, years later, cooking experts on YouTube proved that delicious avail could be prepared with fish. Now, egg avial is the latest dish to garner ‘likes’ and ‘views’ on the social media. All it takes is 10-15 minutes to cook this tasty egg avial. It is quite filling and can be served as a side dish with rice or chapathi. Here is the recipe.

5 boiled eggs
1 potato
1 onion
1 drumstick
1 tsp turmeric powder
Salt as required
½ cup grated coconut
1 tsp cumin seeds
3 garlic cloves
4 green chilies
1 sprig curry leaves
Coconut oil as required

Cook potato, onion and drumstick with some salt, turmeric powder and water
Meanwhile, grind coconut, cumin seeds and green chilies into coarse paste
Add this paste into the cooked veggies
Cook on low flame
Cut the boiled eggs into four pieces
Add these into the avial
Mix gently
Add the curry leaves
Finally, sprinkle some fresh coconut oil
Close the lid and keep aside for ten minutes
Delicious egg avial is ready.
