Eid calls for dishes that feel special, and this mango melon sharbat is just that. Made with ripe muskmelon and mango, this chilled drink is creamy, mildly sweet and served right inside a hollowed muskmelon shell. Topped with fresh fruit, pomegranate seeds and mint, it makes for a beautiful addition to the Eid spread.
It is simple to put together, looks festive on the table and works perfectly as a cooling drink after a hearty meal.
Ingredients
1 ripe muskmelon
1 ripe mango, cubed
Sugar, as needed
Milk
Ice cubes
Pomegranate seeds
Mint leaves
Extra mango and muskmelon cubes for garnish
Preparation
1. Prepare the muskmelon
Cut open the muskmelon and scoop out the seeds and soft centre. Scrape out the flesh, keeping the outer shell intact to use as a serving bowl.
2. Blend the sharbat
Add the muskmelon flesh, mango cubes, sugar and milk to a blender. Blend until smooth. Chill well.
3. Fill the muskmelon shell
Add to the hollow shell:
Ice cubes
Cubed mango
Cubed muskmelon
Pomegranate seeds
4. Pour and garnish
Pour in the chilled blend and garnish with fresh fruits and mint leaves.
Serve immediately while cold. Every sip brings together the mellow sweetness of muskmelon, the richness of mango and the freshness of mint, making it a lovely drink for Eid gatherings.
