As Dharmasthala in Karnataka continues to face scrutiny, the son of a man who died there in 2018 has raised suspicions about his death.

Aneesh has filed a complaint with the Taliparamba police alleging that his father’s death is similar to the other mysterious deaths in Dharmasthala. His father, K J Joy, a native of Idukki, died in a vehicle accident.

In his complaint, Aneesh states that his father was killed when a vehicle hit Joy’s two-wheeler on the instructions of a prominent figure in Dharmasthala. He claims that threats intensified when he filed a complaint in Dharmasthala. Aneesh added that he eventually escaped and returned to his hometown.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government constituted a special team to probe into allegations of mass rapes, murders, and secret burials in Dharmasthala, a major pilgrimage town in Dakshina Kannada district.
