Kochi: In a major move, the Kerala High Court here on Tuesday suspended Udayakumar V, judicial officer at the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal (MACT), Kollam, while initiating disciplinary action against him on a sexual harassment allegation. He faced the allegation while serving as Judge of the Family Court, Chavara.

Udayakumar was transferred from the family court to the MACT after the woman, who is a litigant, lodged a written complaint against him.

The HC took action against the judge under the Kerala Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1960, after finding that "grave allegations of misconduct" were raised against him. The court also examined the report submitted by the Principal District Judge, Kollam, while suspending him from service.
