Vidyagiri: The delay in pruning the branches of a tree in a precarious condition along the roadside is now posing a serious risk to commuters. The danger is compounded by the presence of high-tension power lines, which run through the branches.

The tree, located on a side of the Vidyagiri–Muniyoor–Ethadukka road, has rotten branches that remain unstable. Several vehicles, as well as students travelling to the nearby school and madrassa, pass through this stretch daily. With the branches yet to be trimmed, passengers are now forced to navigate the road anxiously.

As high-tension lines pass through the tree, the risk of falling branches becomes even more serious. Cutting down the tree branches requires permission from the Public Works Department, the Forest Department, and the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).

Although the tree committee in Badiyadukka Panchayat had convened a meeting earlier, made a decision and sent a letter to the authorities concerned, no action has been taken so far. Public demand for addressing the issue by removing the dangerous branches is now gaining momentum.
