Pantheerankavu: The unauthorised crossing point on the National Highway in the Thondyadu–Pantheerankavu stretch has finally been sealed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). Following a report in Manorama highlighting the rising number of accidents in the area, authorities installed concrete barricades at the point on Sunday to prevent access.

The unregulated crossing had long been a hotspot for accidents involving both vehicles and pedestrians. A few days ago, a collision between a car and a scooter on the NH near Arappuzha claimed a life, underscoring the urgent need for action.

Officials confirmed that all unauthorised openings along the National Highway are being closed. The lone remaining crossing point near Mambuzha is also scheduled to be sealed in the coming days.
