Faris, an expatriate, is proud and elated about his brand new house at his hometown in Ponnani in Malappuram district, Kerala. The family wanted their dream dwelling to have simple exteriors. However, they wished for spacious interiors that have abundant supply of natural light and air. So, decorative features like elaborate cladding and false ceiling have been avoided both in the exteriors and the interiors of the house. The exteriors feature simple yet elegant design without any over-the-top decorations. The front yard, meanwhile, is paved with natural stones.
Designed in 3100 sqft, this fabulous mansion has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen, four bedrooms, prayer space, study space and balcony.
The car porch is spacious enough to accommodate at least two cars. The hanging jali work in the sit-out is an interesting feature. The formal living area has a double height ceiling. This makes the interiors look incredibly vaster. Flooring has been done using vitrified tiles. Some of the furniture pieces are custom made to suit the general theme of the house while the rest were bought readymade.
From the dining area, one could get to the small patio through the folding glass door. There is a folding glass door, which opens to the yard too. The dining area could be turned into a spacious hall if both these doors are opened. Moreover, lots of cool breeze enter the house through the doors.
Bay windows with concealed storage spaces have been arranged beside the dining area. These also act as partitions that separate the dining area and the family living space. The windows on the first landing of the stairway too have sitting and storage spaces.
One bedroom is on the ground floor while the remaining three are in the upper storey. The bedrooms are bath attached with in - built wardrobes and separate dressing spaces.
The kitchen cabinets are done in plywood with laminate finish. A quaint pantry counter is what separates the kitchen and the dining area. The counter top, meanwhile, has been paved with nano white. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen space.
This amazing abode may look simple from the outside but is filled with modern amenities and spectacular features which grant comfort and luxury. The family says that their guests too are impressed by their beautiful house.
