Try these easy yoga postures to relax during the lockdown

It is important to maintain the physical and mental health while the country has gone into a nationwide lockdown, fighting the corona virus pandemic. Practicing yoga regularly is one of the best ways to keep your body, mind and soul healthy, especially during these extraordinary times.

Yoga is excellent to improve the immunity power of the body. You could practice the basic postures in yoga, along with your family, while you are in home quarantine. Here are some of the simple yoga asanas or postures from sage Patanjali’s Ashtangayogam that could be easily practiced by everyone irrespective of age or gender.

It is always better to practice yoga in the morning, preferably before breakfast. If you are doing yoga after breakfast, then wait for at least 2 – 4 hours until the food is properly digested. Beginners can practice yoga for 45 minutes up to an hour. You should practice the asanas or the postures everyday to enjoy the benefits.

Coronavirus - Tips and Safety Advices

Those who wish to learn yoga should first practice sitting comfortably with the head, neck and backbone in an erect and relaxed posture. Even the simple breathing exercises could begin only after that. If you cannot sit erect, then you could sit by supporting the backbone against a wall. Besides, those who find it difficult to sit on the floor can sit erect on a chair with the spine resting on the back rest. Your feet should rest on the floor. In case that is not possible, try sitting straight by supporting the legs on the sides of the cot and resting the palms on the knees.
