New Delhi: An Air India flight arriving from Hong Kong caught fire shortly after landing at the Delhi airport on Tuesday afternoon. The fire broke out in the aircraft's auxiliary power unit (APU), but all passengers and crew on board were reported safe.

Flight AI 315, operated using an Airbus A321, landed at 12.12 pm and had already reached the parking gate when the APU caught fire. According to an airline spokesperson, the incident occurred just as passengers had begun disembarking. "The APU was automatically shut down as per system design," the spokesperson said.

While the aircraft suffered some damage, the disembarkation process continued normally and safely. The plane has since been grounded for inspection and further investigation.

"The regulator has been duly notified," Air India added in its statement. Flight data from Flightradar24 confirmed the aircraft’s timely arrival, and no delays or disruptions to airport operations were reported following the incident.
