NEET 99.99 percentile holder dies by suicide, cites reluctance to pursue medicine

Maharashtra: A 19-year-old youth died by suicide after clearing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), stating in his suicide note that he did not want to study medicine, police said. The deceased, Anurag Anil Borkar, a resident of Nawargaon in Sindewahi taluka, had recently cleared NEET, securing a 99.99th percentile and ranking 1,475th in the OBC category, as reported by NDTV. He was about to begin his MBBS admission in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said.
Borkar's family found him lifeless early in the morning, with a suicide note recovered from his room stating that he did not wish to pursue a career in medicine but preferred to go into business.
Officials said that a further probe was underway.
