Pune: A woman doctor working at a government hospital in Maharashtra’s Satara district allegedly died by suicide, leaving behind a note accusing two police personnel of rape and mental harassment, officials said on Friday. The 32-year-old doctor, a native of Beed district, was found hanging in a hotel room in Phaltan late Thursday night, reported PTI quoting police.

In her suicide note, reportedly written on her palm, the doctor alleged that sub-inspector Gopal Badane had raped and sexually harassed her repeatedly over the past five months, while another officer, Prashant Bankar, had subjected her to mental harassment.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also heads the Home Department, took serious note of the incident and directed the immediate suspension of the two policemen named in the suicide note. He also instructed strict action against those found guilty, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a statement.

“A case has been registered, and the body has been sent for post-mortem. We are investigating the allegations mentioned in the suicide note,” a Satara police official said.
