Binoy Kodiyeri agrees for paternity test

Mumbai: As required by a local court in Mumbai, Binoy Kodiyeri, son of CPM general secretary (Kerala) Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, has agreed to undergo a DNA test to ascertain the paternity of the child claimed to be his by a woman who has charged him of sexual assault.

Binoy has agreed to a demand made by the investigating police team to hand over his blood samples for the DNA test. He was questioned by the investigation officers at Oshiwara Police Station in suburban Mumbai.

Binoy is required to appear at Oshiwara Police Station every Monday as part of the conditions of the anticipatory bail granted to him by the Dindoshi Court, Mumbai. The anticipatory bail was granted under strict conditions.

The Court had also directed Binoy to hand over blood samples for DNA test in case the investigating officials make the demand.

Binoy who had appeared at the Oshiwara Police Station after getting the anticipatory bail was arrested and then allowed to go on the basis of the anticipatory bail.

During a recent visit to Thiruvananthapuram, Binoy had said that the sexual assault case will be handled legally and had refused to divulge further information about the case as it was under the consideration of the court as of now.

The case against him was registered by the Oshiwara Police following a complaint filed by the woman belonging to Bihar who had been a dancer in a Dubai bar.
