Thiruvananthapuram: The police on Wednesday arrested Santhamma, wife of the late film actor Rajan P Dev, in connection with the suicide of her daughter-in-law Priyanka.
The High Court had earlier given anticipatory bail to Santhamma and asked her to surrender before the DySP of Nedumangad.
The police on Wednesday recorded her statement and later sent on bail as per the directive of the court.
It was on April 13 last year that Priyanka, wife of Rajan P Dev's son Unny, was found dead in her house at Vembayam near Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram district.
The complaint against Santhamma was that she used to torture Priyanka, demanding dowry from her.
Santhamma is the second accused in the case. The charges such as abetment of suicide and committing of domestic violence have been slapped on her by the police. Priyanka's husband Unny was earlier arrested in connection with the case.
