Three engineering students from Kerala drowned off Malpe beach in Karnataka on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Amal C Anil of Cheppattuparambil, Kuzhimattam, Kottayam; Alan Reji of Ellimullil, Velloor, Pambady; and Antony Shinoy of Chirammel, Udayamperoor, Ernakulam.
The three belong to a group of final-year Computer Science students of the Mangalam Engineering College in Ettumanoor, Kottayam, who had left for a picnic on Wednesday. There were 42 students in the group.
Reports say strong waves washed away the three youths while capturing selfies.
