Three people were killed as the car they were travelling in fell into the river at Aratupuzha in Thrissur on Monday. The deceased are Rajendrababu (66), his wife Sandhya (62) and their grandson Samarth (6). There were four people in the car They are the natives of Cheerachi. 

Rajendrababu was driving the car. It is believed that they were travelling to attend a wedding.

Thrissur Rural SP Aishwarya Dongre said the family was enroute to attend a wedding. “The accident happend while the driver tried to give way for another vehicle. There was a misjudgemt and the car hit a post and then fell into the river.”

Local residents joined hands with the police to help rescue the passengers. Sources said the car was submerged in the water for almost 20 minutes before it was pulled out. The injured has been shifted to a nearby private hospital.
