Kochi: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday called on Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi after suffering from severe injuries caused by an accidental fall last month at Kaloor International Stadium.
CM Vijayan visited the Congress leader at Renai Medicity, Palarivattom, even as she has been recovering from multiple injuries caused by the fall. The CM spent almost five minutes with the MLA and her family, conveying his happiness over the improvement in her health.
A video of the meeting has been released. Uma told the CM she was extremely happy that everyone stood with her during the unexpected crisis. The chief minister responded that the entire land stood together for her.
He also urged her to follow the doctors' advice properly. Dr Krishanunni Polakkulath, medical director of Renai Medicity, then jokingly told the CM that the MLA was adamant that she wanted to attend the upcoming Assembly session.
Uma told the CM that she does not remember even going to attend the dance event during which she fell. Dr Krishnanunni said that he deliberately made her watch the visuals of the fall.
Uma also introduced her sons Vishnu and Vivek to the CM during the brief visit. The CM visited his Assembly colleague before his trip to Kolkata to attend the CPM's central committee meeting. Finance Minister K N Balagopal and CPM district secretary C N Mohanan accompanied him.
Uma fell down from a temporary stage built on the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium gallery for VIP guests to watch a mega dance event organised by Wayanad-based firm Mridanga Vision on December 29. The event organisers were arrested after a case was registered against them for violating safety rules.
