Man arrested for rape and murder of woman in Palakkad

Palakkad Town South Police has arrested a man in connection with the death of a woman in Kottamaithanam, Palakkad district.
Police have confirmed that the death of the woman, who was found in critical condition near Kottamaithanam, was a case of rape and murder. The apprehended is S Subbaiyan (40), a native of Mallankulam near Pattanchery in Meenakshipuram. According to the police, Subbaiyan sexually assaulted and strangled the 30-year-old woman, a resident of Palakkad. The incident occurred on the night of July 30.
A medical examination of the body revealed injuries and bruises on the left eye, lips, chin, forehead, upper arm, forearm, and shoulder. Further investigation is ongoing.
