Kottayam: Bloodstains found at the residence of C M Sebastian (68), a native of Pallippuram in Cherthala and a suspected serial killer, have been confirmed to belong to Jainamma, a missing woman from Ettumanoor. The Crime Branch received confirmation from a forensic examination conducted at the Thiruvananthapuram forensic lab.

Earlier, officials said that the gold ornaments pawned by Sebastian belonged to Jainamma. With the bloodstain evidence now confirmed, the Crime Branch believes it may be close to solving the first of three suspected murders linked to the case.

The blood stains were spotted during a search at Sebastian's residence. Human remains were also recovered from the compound, believed to be those of a woman. The DNA tests of those are still pending. 

Sebastian has already been arrested on charges of murder and destruction of evidence in connection with Jainamma’s disappearance. He is also a suspect in the disappearances of Aisha from Varanad, Cherthala, and Bindu Padmanabhan from Kadakarapally. Bindu has been missing since 2002.

Investigators believe Sebastian may have met Jainamma, who was known to attend meditation centers, at one such location. He was previously arrested in a case involving the illegal sale of Bindu Padmanabhan’s property. Although suspicions were raised at the time regarding her disappearance, no conclusive evidence was found then.

The investigation into the missing women continues, with police not ruling out the possibility that all three were murdered.
