Thiruvananthapuram: Liquor sales in Kerala during the Onam season have set a new record, with the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) reporting collections of ₹826.38 crore in the ten days leading up to Uthradam (Sept. 4). This marks an increase of ₹49.56 crore (6.38 per cent) compared to last year’s ₹776.82 crore.

Sales on Uthradam day alone touched ₹137.64 crore, up 9.23 per cent from ₹126.01 crore in 2024. According to BEVCO Managing Director Harshitha Attaluri, sales in six outlets crossed the ₹1-crore mark this year: Karunagappally (₹1.46 crore), Kavanad (₹1.24 crore), Edappal (₹1.11 crore), Chalakkudy (₹1.07 crore), Irinjalakkuda (₹1.03 crore), and Kundara (₹1 crore). BEVCO’s first super premium outlet in Thrissur also registered notable sales of ₹67 lakh.

The festive surge has pushed up overall liquor sales in the current financial year as well. Between April 1 and September 4, 2025, BEVCO recorded sales worth ₹8,962.97 crore, compared to ₹8,267.74 crore during the same period in 2024 — a jump of ₹698.23 crore (8.45 per cent).
