The Kerala Government Medical College Teachers’ Association (KGMCTA) on Thursday announced a non-cooperation strike from September 26, alleging that the government has failed to address their long-pending demands, including salary arrears and acute staff shortage.

As part of the protest, members will boycott official discussions from September 26. On September 29, teachers will abstain from theory classes. Candlelight gatherings will be held in medical colleges on October 3, followed by a one-hour demonstration on October 10 at 1 pm.

KGMCTA accused the government of making large-scale transfers to newly established medical colleges without creating adequate teaching posts. They also cited anomalies in the pay revision and the delay in disbursing salary and DA arrears as major concerns.

Earlier, the association had observed a Black Day on September 22 and staged a protest march on September 23. “Despite repeated assurances, the authorities have ignored our demands, leaving us with no option but to intensify the agitation,” the association said in a statement.

If the issues remain unresolved, KGMCTA warned of stronger protests, including step-by-step suspension of classes and a boycott of outpatient (OP) duties.
