Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) has stopped providing free paper sheets for packing liquor bottles as of Friday. Instead, customers can now purchase carry bags priced at ₹15 and ₹20. Previously, paper sheets were free of charge.
This decision follows another move to charge ₹20 extra for liquor sold in plastic bottles. As a result, customers buying liquor in plastic containers now have to pay an additional ₹35 to carry the bottle home in a bag. The new policy sparked arguments between customers and outlet staff on Friday, with many pointing out that similar measures have not been implemented at Consumerfed liquor outlets.
