Kalamassery: Minister P Rajeev on Tuesday flagged off a special vehicle that will transport crops directly from farms within the Kalamassery Assembly constituency to homes and apartments. The initiative has been launched under the leadership of the Edappally Vadakkumbhagam Cooperative Bank as part of a farming project being implemented in Kalamassery  under the Minister's supervision.

The vehicle will carry fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs sourced directly from local farms , besides the value added products being rolled out by various cooperative societies.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister said the initiative aims to deliver locally produced farm goods straight to households, eliminating middlemen. The vehicle will operate twice daily, in the morning and afternoon.

In the morning, it will collect produce from farms and deliver them to apartments and select residents’ associations until 11 AM. Later, by 2 PM, it will again collect produce and make them available for sale at key centres across the constituency.

Councillor Vani Devi presided over the function. Music director Alphonse and former municipal chairman N K Pavithran were also present, alongside V M Sasi, Vijayan Palliyakkal, and Sreekumar, who are office bearers of the coordination committee for the project `Krishikkoppam kalamassery'.
