As part of Operation Rakshitha, a state-wide drive launched by the Railway Police to enhance passenger safety, 72 cases have been registered across Kerala for various violations.

The operation, conducted jointly by the state Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), was initiated following the recent incident in which a 19-year-old woman was attacked and pushed from a moving train near Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram. The drive aims to ensure safer travel, particularly for women passengers.

The inspections are being carried out under the direct supervision of Shahansha K S, Superintendent of Police (Railways). Over the past few days, special checks have been conducted both inside trains and across station premises.

The initiative focuses on maintaining discipline, vigilance, and public order in railway stations and trains while preventing crimes and harassment against passengers.

CCTV surveillance has been intensified, and bomb and K9 squads are assisting with security checks. The Railway Police, RPF, and ticket inspectors are jointly implementing the operation, which will continue in the coming days.
