Amoebic meningoencephalitis: One more death reported in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: A 58-year-old woman died of amoebic meningoencephalitis at the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital. The deceased, Sarasu, was a native of Choorakkad Vayal, Thurayur, Payyoli. She had been receiving treatment for the past month, according to Manorama Online. She is survived by her husband Chandran and son Nidhin.
Two more patients, including a Kozhikode native, are currently being treated at the medical college for the infection.
According to official figures, Kerala has reported 17 cases and seven deaths due to the disease in November alone. A total of 40 people have died from the infection so far this year.
