Muvattupuzha: Candidates try all sorts of creative tactics to grab attention during election campaigns. But Celine George of the CPM, contesting as the LDF candidate in Ward 17 of the Muvattupuzha Municipality, has taken an unusual and decidedly eye-catching route- she is campaigning with a horse.
Contesting under her party symbol, Celine has been meeting voters with the horse walking alongside her, a sight that has quickly become a local curiosity. Children, followed by their parents, rush out to watch the unexpected spectacle, turning her campaign stops into lively gatherings. Celine, in turn, uses the moment to connect with those who come to see the horse, personally seeking their support and votes.
The horse, owned by a friend of Celine, accompanies her throughout the campaign. Since Celine has no experience riding, she walks alongside the animal as she meets voters. And it’s working as even those who may not intend to vote for her find themselves peeking out of windows at the sound of hooves approaching their homes.
Celine says her campaign gained significant momentum ever since the horse joined the trail. Ward 17 in Muvattupuzha municipality is witnessing a tight triangular contest, with UDF candidate Manu Paul and independent candidate Ancy Jacob also in the fray.
