Idukki: At the Pachakanam booth in Kumily, 29 voters registered, but only one showed up to exercise their franchise in the local body polls on Tuesday. The booth, located in the Mullaperiyar ward of Kumily Panchayat, is about 40 kilometres from the Panchayat headquarters.

When Silvester, the lone voter, arrived at the booth, the electronic voting machine (EVM) developed a technical snag. It took over an hour to fix the issue, but Silvester patiently waited and eventually cast his vote.

Polling officials, along with police and forest personnel, were on duty at the booth, which is located inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve at the Pachakkanam estate.
