Pathanamthitta: West Bengal natives Moksedul Islam and his wife Serina Parveen now call Pullad in Pathanamthitta their home. The couple, who have settled there for over a decade, have not missed a single election since 2014 and recently cast their votes in the first phase of the local body polls.
Moksedul first came to Kerala in 1993 at the age of 14, from Deomali in Jalpaiguri. He worked in the construction sector in various towns before finally settling in Pullad in 2000. Over the years, he built a house and became a permanent resident of the village.
Today, Moksedul and Serina run a textile shop in Pullad. The couple have two children- their elder son, MD Shahjahan, is an engineering student, while their daughter, Shana Parveen, is in Class 10.
