Thiruvananthapuram: The results of the Kerala local body elections brought a mix of joy and disappointment for Maniyan and Sasi Kumari, the couple who went viral on social media for serving traditional tribal delicacies on arrowroot leaves at their eatery, 'Kaattile Kada'.
While their daughter, S Sindhu, contesting on a CPM ticket, won the Mangala ward of Vithura panchayat for the LDF, the couple's son, M Raj Lal, a Congress member who contested from the Vithura ward on a UDF ticket, was defeated.
Even then, Maniyan and Sasi Kumari, who belong to a tribal community, told Manorama that they were very happy over their daughter's victory as it had ensured that a member of the 'Kaattile Kada' family would serve the people. Raj Lal also promised to continue his service to the people despite his defeat in the local body election.
With LDF retaining power in Vithura and the post of panchayat president reserved for Scheduled Tribe-woman, residents of Pattankulichapara at Peppara in Vithura, where 'Kaattile Kada' is located, are waiting for the exciting news.
