Thiruvananthapuram: Vaikunda Swami Dharma Pracharana Sabha (VSDPS) chairperson Vishnupuram Chandrasekharan on Monday dismissed claims that he has joined the United Democratic Front (UDF), contradicting an announcement made earlier by Opposition Leader V D Satheesan.

Rejecting the claim, Chandrasekharan said he continues to serve as the vice-chairperson of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “If I have submitted an application to join the UDF, I request that it be made public,” he said. Chandrasekharan also asserted that he comes from a Sangh Parivar background and is a swayamsevak.

However, Chandrasekharan acknowledged dissatisfaction within the NDA, alleging that the alliance has failed to give adequate importance to its constituent parties.

“I have some dissatisfaction, but my party and I will discuss the issues and resolve them. The party is capable of doing that. I raised my concerns with Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who has addressed most of them,” he told the media.

Chandrasekharan also admitted that he had held discussions with Congress leaders but said these were informal in nature. “I did speak to Congress leaders, but it was more of a friendly interaction,” he said.

Earlier in the day, V D Satheesan had said that former MLA P V Anvar, State convenor of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in Kerala, C K Janu of the Janadhipathya Rashtriya Party (JRP), and Chandrasekharan would join the UDF ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
