Idukki: In a tragic incident on Christmas Eve, a house caught fire at Vellathooval, leaving one person dead. According to the police, a man was found charred to death inside the house. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, officials said.

Vellathooval police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation. The victim will be identified after autopsy and DNA testing, they added.

The fire broke out at the house of Vikram, a native of Vellathooval, on Wednesday night.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames, after which the body was recovered. The incident is reported to have occurred after 9 pm. Police will inspect the spot on Thursday morning for a detailed examination.
