Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday announced that the state government is planning several new initiatives, including the use of blockchain technology, to further secure land transactions.

Speaking at the annual Registration Department Day celebrations and award distribution for best-performing offices at Azhikkode, Vijayan said the government aims to provide maximum services to citizens at their doorstep, reducing the need to visit offices in person.

"Several new initiatives are in the pipeline, including plans to use blockchain technology to secure land transactions and adopt scientific methods to eliminate fake documents and duplicate registrations," he said.

Vijayan highlighted that the state has implemented major reforms in the Registration Department, making property registration more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly. The department plays a crucial role in Kerala’s development, not only as a major source of revenue but also in ensuring citizens’ property rights and legal security.

The chief minister added that stamp duty concessions have been extended to poor families for land registration and house construction, supporting the state’s goal of eliminating landlessness. The department has also played an important role in the speedy registration of documents under the LIFE Mission housing scheme, contributing to steady revenue growth.

Vijayan said these reforms reflect Kerala’s commitment to equality, including justice for transgender persons and marginalised communities, while embracing modern, technology-driven methods in governance.
