Pipeline burst leaves recently restored road in Pathanamthitta flooded

Kuttoor: Three months have passed since drinking water began going to waste following a pipeline burst on the Mammoottilpadi–Ettukadavu road in Kuttoor. The road, which had remained riddled with potholes and unusable for nearly 15 years, was repaired just a year ago after local residents pooled around Rs 2 lakh to carry out the work. Following the pipe burst, the stretch has once again turned into a waterlogged mess.
Water now flows along the road, making it difficult even for pedestrians to pass. Residents complain that as vehicles move through the stretch, the potholes widen further, turning the road into a slushy pool of mud.
The situation has been aggravated by the diversion of heavy vehicles through the Mammoottilpadi road following the imposition of traffic restrictions on the Pulimoottil bridge along the Arattukadavu–Thalayar road due to safety concerns. The increased movement of heavy vehicles has already damaged the road. Worsening the already dire condition, the burst pipeline continues to flood the stretch.
