The Greenfield Stadium at Karyavattom in Thiruvananthapuram is likely to host a handful of matches in the upcoming ICC Women's Cricket World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.

According to reports, the Greenfield Stadium is expected to be awarded the fixtures initially scheduled for the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

At least four matches in the initial schedule were allocated to the Chinnaswamy stadium, but the venue went out of favour following a June 4 stampede that resulted in 11 deaths. The stampede took place outside the stadium during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL-winning celebrations.

It is unclear how many matches from Chinnaswamy's fixtures will be awarded to Karyavattom.
