The Kerala senior men's cricket team, led by all-rounder Saly Samson, will tour Oman for a series of T20 practice matches in the third week of this month.
The 16-member squad comprising players selected from the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) will play three T20 matches against the Oman national team between September 22 and 25, said the Kerala Cricket Association.
A Kerala team, led by Mohammed Azharuddeen, had toured Oman in April for a series of five one-dayers. Just like then, Kerala's Ranji Trophy captain Sachin Baby and star batter Sanju Samson are not part of the current squad.
Ranji Trophy regulars such as Salman Nizar, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Rohan S Kunnummal and M D Nidheesh are also not part of the touring side to be coached by Sebastian Antony.
Captain Saly, elder brother of Indian cricketer Sanju Samson, was one of the standout performers in the KCL. He led Kochi Blue Tigers to their maiden KCL title with a 75-run win over Kollam Sailors in the final. Oman are competing in the ongoing Asia Cup in the UAE.
