After not hosting an international cricket match in two years, Kerala have got three in a row as the BCCI on Friday announced Thiruvananthapuram as the venue for India's home series against Sri Lanka in women's T20Is this December.

The Greenfield Stadium at Karyavattom in Thiruvananthapuram will host the last three matches of a five-match series with Lanka. Visakhapatnam will host the first two matches on December 21 and 23. The matches in Thiruvananthapuram are scheduled for December 26, 28 and 30.

Interestingly, Thiruvananthapuram had missed out on hosting matches in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup held in September-November. The lack of direct flights between Thiruvananthapuram and the other venues was cited as the reason for Kerala missing out on the World Cup.

Thiruvananthapuram has yet to host an international women's match, though it has witnessed four T20Is and two ODIs between 2018 and 2023. The last match played at the venue was a T20I between India and Australia on November 26, 2023, which the hosts won by 44 runs.
